Why is the sky blue? Why is the grass green? Why did the chicken cross the road? Why? It's one of the most essential questions we can ask. It's a way to gather information and to find out reasons for the way things are. But how often do we look around us and ask why? We are starting a new series this week called “Why?” where we will be looking at why we do certain things here at CCC, such as singing, baptism, and serving. Let's all learn together the answer to the question “why?”

Anyone who's been on a plane knows things look different from above. Even common, everyday items take on a new light when you see it from a bird's eye view. When we look from above we're able to see the broader scope of things and how they fit together with one another. The same is true of the Bible. We live in a world that is very conscious of health and illness. In almost every newspaper and magazine, there are numerous articles about fitness, medicine, and diseases. Think about all these "itis-es" and "isms" that we take medicine to treat or prevent. We pay very close attention to our physical health, yet how often do we pay attention to the health of what we believe and think? It's amazing to realize that one third of the Bible was written either about or by David. With so much of the Bible focusing on David, it's worth spending some time learning about who he was and what we can discover from his life. Whether it's his humble beginnings, his years in power as king, or his painful mistakes, there is a lot to learn from David.
