This summer our high school students are traveling to New Orleans, LA to continue with hurricane relief. Many people think the work is finished, but that isn’t the case. There are still families and even communities that have been left homeless for years after the storm. We will be helping to rebuild and repair homes and connect with people in the community. You can grab a service trip packet in the lobby at CCC on Sunday.

CCC Student Ministry wants every student to be known for serving others. We don’t want to just talk about it so we actually go and serve each summer on a trip. It is our hope to see every student who calls CCC home make it a priority to attend a service trip. Keep watching the blog for more information.

CCC Facilities Team

We are looking for a few good men and women to join the CCC Facilities team. 8094 Sandpiper Circle is a building just like any other and needs regular maintenance like any other building. If you have a particular trade or are just a handyman or a handywoman who would like to lend a hand from time to time, please contact Ryan Arnold at 410-933-8330 or ryan.arnold@communtiycc.net.

On February 20th we’ll be shifting from two services to three (8:30, 10:00, & 11:30), which raises the question “What service should I attend?”.

Since all three services are identical, it might seem the choice is nothing more than a matter of preference.  And to some degree, this is the case.  But, there’s a little more to it than that.

Our mission is to help people find their way back to God.  That means we want to create an inviting atmosphere for people who are not a part of any church.  Over and over again studies and surveys have found that people who are not a part of any church are much more likely to attend church services later in the morning.

This has played out here at CCC as well.  So, when we ask ourselves the question, “What service should I go to,” keep in mind we are creating three services to help people find their way back to God and people who aren’t a part of any church are more likely to go to the 10:00 or 11:30 service.  Perhaps you might consider attending the 8:30 service to ensure there’ll be enough room at the later services.  This might be a sacrifice for you and your family to wake up a little earlier for church.  But this might also be a way you can serve people who don’t know God.

So what service are you going to attend?  Think about making the 8:30 service your service.

EPiC

I am sure you are busying planning for your Super Bowl party this weekend, but I wanted to let you know a few things happening for middle school students at CCC over the next few weeks. This Sunday, February 6, EPiC will not be meeting. Take time to sit back, relax, and enjoy watching the Packers take it to the Steelers. EPiC, our weekly large group gathering is designed specifically to give middle schoolers a place to have fun, get to know other students, and learn how to follow Jesus. EPiC will meet the following Sunday, February 13 at CCC from 6PM-8PM.

Then on Sunday, February 20, EPiC is going top secret for the first EPiC Destination Unknown. Students should meet at CCC at 4PM and will return at 9PM. Cost is $20 and includes dinner. Students must fill out a student ministry medical release form and sign up in the lobby. Parents, please email ryan.arnold@communitycc.net for the top-secret details about the day.

I really hope every middle school student takes full advantage of all that’s coming up.

New to the Bible Group

Have you ever been given the impression the Bible is an easy book to read and understand?  It isn’t (as anyone who’s tried to read Leviticus can attest to).  Each and every week here at CCC we read from and talk about the Bible.  The Bible is not just a book but is our guide for faith and practice given to us by God.

Yet, there are many people who just don’t know anything about the Bible.

We’re starting a new small group to help people who are new to the Bible understand this complex book.  Beginning February 10th, a group will meet for 10 weeks at CCC from 7-8:30 PM to learn more about the Bible.

If you’ve ever tried to read the Bible but found yourself completely lost, this group is for you.  If you want to know how to understand the different parts of the Bible, this group is for you.  If you are brand new to the Christian faith and want to learn how to navigate the Bible, this group is for you.

To sign up for the New to the Bible group or to get more information, contact Nic Cox at 410-933-8330 or nic.cox@communitycc.net.

Grief Share

Life can be really hard sometimes, especially when we are dealing with the loss of a loved one.  There are so many things to sort through and wrestle with when we come face to face with the death of someone we care about deeply.  During times of grief it is important to be a part of a community who can support, care for, and understand what we’re going through.  The ironic thing about grief, though, is the common reaction is to seek isolation.

Grief Share is a small group committed to learning how to walk the journey of grief and be supported along the way. It is a place where hurting people can begin to find healing and hope.  Grief Share is a 13 week group that meets on Tuesdays at CCC from 7:00-8:30PM, beginning March 1st.

If you are struggling through grief you, should join the Grief Share group.  No one should have to walk through grief alone.

If you are interested in signing up for Grief Share or for more information, please contact Nic Cox at 410.933.8330 or nic.cox@communitycc.net.

It takes a tremendous amount of effort and energy in order for Sunday morning services happen.  Yet, it’s easy to overlook how much people invest in this place week in and week out.

Every Sunday there is an entire team of people who devote their morning to ensure our first impression of CCC is first-class, comfortable, and is a positive experience.  This is the work of the Frontline Team.  If you’ve ever had a cup of coffee, followed signs to find the church, or picked up a program, you’ve enjoyed the work of the Frontline Team.

It’s vitally important for us to be able to focus our hearts and minds on God in worship.  Through music, videos, slides, lights, and sound, the Worship Arts Team helps create an atmosphere where our attention can be directed to God.

We value children here at CCC. It’s our desire for children, from their earliest days, know God’s love for them and that their memories of church from childhood will be fond ones.  From birth through fifth grade, there are children learning about God’s great love and plan for their lives every Sunday because of our Children’s Ministry Team.

In just a couple weeks we will be shifting from two services to three: 8:30, 10:00, and 11:30.  What does that mean for these teams of people?  It means there is a lot more work to done.  This is a great opportunity to jump on one of these teams and serve to help make Sunday mornings an extraordinary experience for people who are trying to Find Their Way Back to God.

If you are interested in joining one of these teams, or in serving in any other areas here at CCC, please contact us at 410-933-8330 or at info@communitycc.net.

Divorce and separation lead to many different struggles in a person’s life.  At CCC we want to partner with people journeying through this difficult situation and help them find healing and wholeness.

Divorce Care is a group that meets to help people who have had a divorce or separation. Whether it’s happened recently or if it’s been years, Divorce Care’s goal is to help people heal from the hurt and pain of a divorce or separation. Divorce Care meets on Tuesdays at 7PM here at CCC, and you can jump in at any time.

One of the areas divorce and separation affects is our finances. We will be hosting a Financial Seminar specifically for people who are going through a divorce or separation. This seminar will cover Maryland divorce laws affecting marital property, spousal support, child support, equitable distribution of assets between spouses, and much more. The seminar will be on Saturday, February 19th from 8AM – 6 PM and the cost is $35.

To sign up for Divorce Care or for the Financial Seminar or for more information, contact Nic Cox at nic.cox@communitycc.net or 410-933-8330.
